We are happy to announce the major release 4.0 of OpenCelium which is now available for download! This significant update represents a milestone in the development of our software. With a particular focus on improving security, performance, stability and usability, we have implemented numerous optimizations and new functions. Experience a whole new level of efficiency and user-friendliness with OpenCelium 4.0.
The individual new features of OpenCelium Release 4.0 are listed below:
Security and performance
Migration Neoj4 to MongoDB
In this update, we have made a decisive technology change that makes OpenCelium even more stable and powerful. The switch from Neo4j to MongoDB has two major advantages:
- Increased security: Neo4j had repeated security problems, such as the known vulnerability (CVE) through log4j. With MongoDB we have minimized these risks and significantly improved security.
- Improved performance: MongoDB enables more efficient data management between the application and database. As the data is processed in JSON format in both the frontend and the backend, we save time when writing and reading data.

Password encryption
From now on, we will store the connector data completely encrypted. Soon, password tool integrations will also be offered to store connector access data in a decentralized manner.

Stability and usability
Redesign of the update assistant
We have completely revised the update assistant and fixed all previous bugs. The new assistant allows you to carry out updates conveniently using the wizard, both online and offline.
New installation types
We have expanded our installation types: In addition to ZIP installations (sources), we now also offer Deb, RPM, Ansible and Docker installations.
Note: The update wizard is only available for the source version. There will be separate update routines for Deb, RPM, Ansible or Docker.

What else is new?
Quick Connection Generator
With the Quick Connection Generator (QCG), you can now create your connections even faster. Simply select the “via template” tab under the “Add Connection” button and fill in the name, the two connectors and the respective template.
Test run (max. 60 seconds)
To avoid browser problems, we have initially limited the test run to a maximum of 60 seconds. In the next release (4.1), it will be possible to end the test run prematurely directly from the user interface.
Introduction of the Linux service systemd
Systemd is an indispensable service for Linux systems that manages the starting, monitoring and stopping of processes. We are now also making this service available for OpenCelium. You can find out how to use systemd in our documentation.
One more thing
Another update (Release 4.1), which we have already been working on in parallel, will be released soon. This update contains exciting new features such as:
- Support of the Paginator functionality
- Webhook GET and POST request support for loop and IF operators
- Grouping of connection and schedule entries
- Cancel an executed interface directly from the user interface

Follow the instructions in the documentation to perform the update.
